چکیده

Aims: The aim of the study was to reveal variability in soil properties influencing pigeonpea (Cajanus cajana L.) seed yield under semi-arid rainfed condition. Methods: Soils were initially classified into series level and further these divided soil-phase units. For two site years viz., 2018-19 2019-20, surface samples from each unit collected before sowing subsequently crop growth parameters at critical stages recorded. Results: principal component analysis with varimax rotation resulted seven components for both years, having eigenvalues greater than one, explained more 80% variability. The step wise linear regression showed that linearly correlated PC3 (p<0.01), PC4 (p<0.01) PC7 (p<0.05) R2 = 0.679, during 2018-19. Whereas, PC1 PC6 0.677. In year 1, available P2O5, Fe, Zn, S, Cu, number pods, moisture determined yield. 2, K2O, P2O5, Fe, clay, CEC water content All variables together explain yield.

Integrated Weed Management in Pigeonpea [Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.]

Uncontrolled weeds cause considerable losses in the grain yield of pigeonpea. Field experiments were conducted for seven years from 1998 to 2004 on a loamy sand soil to study the effect of weed management on weeds, growth and grain yield of pigeonpea. In some years, weed dry matter was higher than in others, due to variation in rainfall received. Two hand weedings, pendimethalin in integration ...

Genetic Patterns of Domestication in Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan (L.) Millsp.) and Wild Cajanus Relatives

Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) is an annual or short-lived perennial food legume of acute regional importance, providing significant protein to the human diet in less developed regions of Asia and Africa. Due to its narrow genetic base, pigeonpea improvement is increasingly reliant on introgression of valuable traits from wild forms, a practice that would benefit from knowledge of its domestication ...

Effect of sulphur and phosphorus on yield, quality and nutrient status of pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan).

A field experiment was conducted to study the impact of Sulphur(S) and Phosphorus (P) on yield, nutrient status of soil and their contents in pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan) during the year 2008-2009. Seven treatments were studied in Factorial Randomized Block Design with three replications. The treatment combinations were derived from three levels of sulphur (0, 20 and 40 kg S ha(-1)) and four level...

A Comprehensive Transcriptome Assembly of Pigeonpea (Cajanus cajan L.) using Sanger and Second-Generation Sequencing Platforms

A comprehensive transcriptome assembly for pigeonpea has been developed by analyzing 128.9 million short Illumina GA IIx single end reads, 2.19 million single end FLX/454 reads, and 18 353 Sanger expressed sequenced tags from more than 16 genotypes. The resultant transcriptome assembly, referred to as CcTA v2, comprised 21 434 transcript assembly contigs (TACs) with an N50 of 1510 bp, the large...
